Espantapájaros

The past weekend we went to the village of Serrada, to participate in the Day of the Scarecrow, driven by Alberto Sobrino, member of the cultural Satellite Collectiv, and year after year brings together more people. 
Children and adults, for hours unleashing their creativity by creating all kinds of creatures that for eleven months will be in a field near the village.
Perhaps the most exciting moment was to plant the scarecrows, because we had to fight against a strong wind that presaged rain and some clouds, which gave the evening a dramatic light.
But fighting the wind was easy after enjoying the Aguinaldo (typical Serrada's rice dish), with which we were rewarded for our hard work,  and a couple of hours in the local swimming pool.
 If you've never made ​​a scarecrow I invite you to try, it's worth it!

El fin de semana pasado fuimos al pueblo de Serrada a participar en el Día del Espantapájaros, impulsado por Alberto Sobrino, miembro del Colectivo Satélite y que año tras año reúne a más personas.
Niños y adultos, durante horas dando rienda suelta a su creatividad creando todo tipo de criaturas que durante once meses estarán en un campo cercano al pueblo.
Quizá el momento más emocionante fué plantar los espantapájaros, porque tuvimos que luchar contra un viento hipohuracanado que presagiaba lluvia y unas nubes que daban a la tarde una luz dramática.
Pero luchar contra el viento fue fácil después de disfrutar del Aguinaldo (plato típico de arroz de Serrada) con el que nos obsequiaron por nuestro duro trabajo y un par de horas en la piscina municipal.
Si nunca habéis hecho un espantapájaros os invito a probar, merece la pena!

Ilustratour 2013

The month of July has started intensely. As in the past six years was held in Valladolid Ilustratour and I had the pleasure to attend a workshop with the fantastic and generous Kitty Crowther.
It was a pleasure to share doubts, challenges and laughter with friends I have not often get to see and reconnect with old and new faces. 

During the weekend the Weekend Seminars took place where we could enjoy the ideas and inspirations of Kitty Crowther, Marc Boutavant, Puño, Chris Haughton, Oliver Jeffers, Axel Scheffler and David Wiesner among others.
 
I want to thank the organizers, I con i, for his invitation to participate in these Seminars. Many thanks to everybody who came, for your interest, enthusiasm and participation. And thanks for your messages and emails, I am overwhelmed by your kindness. 
It was a great week!

El mes de Julio ha empezado intensamente. Como en los últimos 6 años se celebraba Ilustratour en Valladolid y tuve el placer de asistir a un taller con la fantástica y generosa Kitty Crowther. 
Fué un gusto volver compartir dudas, retos y risas con amigos que no tengo oportunidad de ver a menudo y reencontrarme con viejas y nuevas caras.

Durante el fin de semana se celebraron las Jornadas dónde pudimos disfrutar de las ideas e inspiraciones de Kitty Crowther, Marc Boutavant, Puño, Chris Haughton, Oliver Jeffers, Axel Scheffler y David Wiesner entre otros. 
Quiero agradecer a sus organizadores, I con i, su invitación para para participar en esta Jornadas con una charla . Muchísimas gracias a todos los que vinisteis por vuestro interés, entusiasmo y participación. Y gracias por vuestros mensajes y emails, me siento abrumada por vuestra amabilidad. 
Ha sido una gran semana!

La estación de los helados ha empezado en Berlín, una excusa perfecta para que visitéis la ciudad.

I was in the tourist mood today and I took this piture who shows part of the darkest historical layers of this city and always visited by tourists:
The current Ministry of Finances (Detlev Rohwedder Hauses) former Ministry of Aviation of the Nazi regime who miraculously escaped Allied bombing during the Second World War (more info here). Part of the Wall and the site of the Headquarters of the SS and the Gestapo, now headquarters of the Foundation "Topography of Terror" documentation center on National Socialism and its crimes.

Hoy he hecho de turista un rato y he tomado esta foto que muestra parte de los estratos históricos más oscuros de esta ciudad y siempre visitado por turistas:
El actual Ministerio de Hacienda (Detlev Rohwedder Hauses) antiguo Ministerio de la Aviación del régimen nazi que milagrosamente se salvó de los bombardeos de los aliados durante la segunda Guerra Mundial (más info aquí). Parte del Muro y el solar de los Cuarteles Generales de la SS y la Gestapo, ahora sede del la Fundación "Topographie des Terrors", centro de documentación sobre el Nacional Socialismo y sus crímenes.

Kid's art

When I see an open church I can not avoid getting in. I like empty churches. This one is not far from my place, is the Zionskirche. A church that played an important role in the struggle of groups in opposition to the old regime of the former DDR.
Enter through unknown gates always brings excitement and surprises. One of them was a children's art exhibition with the theme of the seasons.How cool is what children do! What do you think about that volcano? So great!

Cuando veo una iglesia abierta no puedo evitar entrar en ella. Me gustan las iglesias cuando están vacías. Esta no está lejos de mi casa, es la Zionskirche. Una iglesia que jugó un papel importante en la lucha de los grupos en oposición al antiguo régimen de la extinta DDR. 
Entrar por puertas desconocidas siempre trae consigo emoción y sorpresas. Una de ellas era una exposición de arte infantil con el tema de las estaciones. Cómo mola lo que hacen los niños! Qué os parece ese volcán? Fantástico!

June in June

Last week I had the pleasure of meeting June kesser, the creator of the brand Hum with me.
We enjoyed a very nice afternoon and she brought me as a gift some of their products. Nice design with great paper and printed with soy-based organic inks. It shows it's made with love.

La semana pasada tuve el placer de quedar con June Kesser, la creadora de la marca Hum with me. No sólo disfrutamos de una tarde muy agradable sino que fué tan amable de regalarme algunos de sus productos. Bonito diseño con un papel estupendo e impreso con tintas ecológicas basadas en soja.
