Yellow Lounge

Yellow Lounge is an initiative of Universal Classics. The idea is that classical music can be enjoyed not only in major concert halls but also in the Clubs.
While the Dj's are playing classical music, you chat and drink waiting for the live performance that varies in each event.
This time it was the pianist Francesco Tristano playing Bach and John Cage.
It's a great idea to listen to classical music in a space normally devoted to electronic music, look at a grand piano in the dance floor, sit anywhere near the musician listening to Bach while the disco ball is spinning.

Here you can see a Francesco Tristano and Carl Craig performance.
The show was in Cookies Club, former home of the French Institute in the former GDR. Housed the cinema and the decor is much the same. Charming.

Yellow Lounge es una iniciativa de Universal Classics. La idea es que la música clásica puede disfrutarse no sólo en las grandes salas de conciertos sino también en los Clubs.
Mientras los Dj's pinchan música clásica, charlas, te tomas una copas esperando la actuación en directo que varía en cada evento.
Esta vez era el pianista Francesco Tristano interpretando a Bach y John Cage.
Es una gran idea poder escuchar música clasica en un espacio, normalmente dedicado a la música electrónica, contemplar un enorme piano de cola en la pista de baile, sentarte en cualquier sitio cerca del músico escuchando a Bach mientras la disco ball da vueltas.

Aquí podéis ver una actuación de Francesco Tristano con Carl Craig.
El concierto fué en el Club Cookies, antigua sede del Instituto Francés en la antigua RDA. Albergaba la sala de cine y la decoración sigue siendo prácticamente la misma.

I thank all those who, during these days have commented on this blog or have sent me emails with your feelings about the Japan illustration.
I'm overwhelmed and grateful for your kind words.
I know that through the network are emerging initiatives to raise funds, some of them by selling prints of some illustrations.
I was asked if I would do the same. It was never my intention to do it and, frankly at this distressing and sad situation, I think it's much more useful and faster to apply directly to the various international organizations who are collecting funds for Japan and make a donation.

Os doy las gracias a todos los que, durante estos días habéis comentado en este blog o me habéis enviado emails con vuestras impresiones acerca de la ilustración sobre Japón.
Me siento abrumada y agradecida por vuestras amables palabras.
Sé que a través de la red están surgiendo diversas iniciativas para recaudar fondos, algunas de ellas mediante la venta de prints de determinadas ilustraciones.
Me han preguntado si iba a hacer lo mismo. Nunca ha sido mi intención hacerlo y, sinceramente, ante esta angustiosa y triste situación, creo que es mucho más útil y rápido dirigirse directamente a las distintas organizaciones internacionales que están recogiendo fondos para Japón y hacer una donación.
