Bolonia I

Go to the Bologna Book Fair is always a good experience but this year, for various reasons, has been even better. One of them has been participating in the Illustrators Exhibition. It is very flattering and gratifying that your illustrations are chosen from nearly 3200 participants.

I confess that seeing them displayed there  I felt a great joy and also had the feeling that they were someone else. I want to thank all those who during the Fair and even later (friends and strangers),  you still congratulating me, for the good times, for the advices  and remind me that you have to enjoy small victories.

I think anyone who has been to the Bookfair knows that the best are the friends with whom you go and the new people you meet. Strangers you know by sitting at random seat at a dinner,
or because someone introduces you or because you sit and rest a moment at the fair at a random table or seat. (random...it's so good!)
Too bad we have so little time to know each other!  I brought with me a lot of new faces, I hope to meet them again and know better, others will be more difficult to reencounter but for that we have  Bologna, right?

Raku II

It has been an exciting weekend and very smokey!
On Friday we were glazing our pieces to fire the next day.
The whole Saturday marveling at what the fire and the heat did. And while we waited for each batch was ended, we all enjoyed the food we had organized.
I promise to take some pictures of my stuff when I have stopped to look and touch them. I can't stop!

Tipos

Last week I was in the store Type Hype, specialized in the use of fonts in different products.
But perhaps what I liked most is the furniture for typesetting, a beautiful wooden cabinet full of drawers containing all types. They told me they bought it from a German university, where no longer needed.
And they make it clear that all products are Made in Germany.

Raku

You never know what will happen every time you open and step through a new door. I like to step through new doors and see what is or what happens inside. This time it's the one leading to the Raku workshop, which began this weekend.
I love ateliers! of all kinds! (perhaps ,because I don't have one!).
I like the smell and the tools. I always wonder who is the person who thought of creating a particular tool, used for a particular purpose and what was the process that led to it.
Last year I took a workshop in ceramic, so the surroundings were not entirely unknown. Especially I liked to create all objects without wheel, sitting quietly, calmly modeling and accepting the result, although it was not perfect nor was I had in mind.
In two weeks we glazed and to the kiln...how exciting!
Way home on my bike humming this song. :)
