"Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up"P.PicassoThe last two weeks have been particulary exciting.
Among the emotions are receiving books from friends, illustrators. Books I've seen grow slowly:
"10 trips and 1 dream" by Meritxell Martí. Illustrated by
Xavier Salomó. Editorial Combel.
A beautiful book with pop-ups.
I saw a dummy last year and now to have the book in my hands is very exciting.
I would love to be one of the characters who travels and has the mysterious dream!
Thanks Xavier!
"Batracio Frogger and the mystery of the pyramid" illustrated by
Jorge Liquete. Narval Editores.
And exciting story. I want to emphasize the artwork, where I've been lucky enough to see how the illustrations developed. I hope we can enjoy Froger successive adventures!
Very often when someone asks us for our profession and we answer that we are illustrators, people always make comments like "How beautiful!", "Fun," "Fascinating" (the best reactions are those of the children who find it impossible that someone would actually draw pictures and call it a profession).
And yes, it's fun and fascinating but also a lonely process with dark days filled with doubt, fear and frustration and bright days where everything is taking shape and get surprise yourself.
So when I see these books, and those of colleagues and other illustrators who do not know, I know it's not just a book.
